Ontario colleges have partnered with McDonald's Canada to offer post-secondary educational pathways for McDonald's employees in business programs across the province. Upon completing the McDonald's Management Development Program (MDP) Level 2, successful applicants to Conestoga's Business diploma program (0062), or one of the pathway options described below, will be admitted at an advanced level.

How does it work?

Applicants with a high school diploma and the MDP designation will receive credit for the following Level 1 and 2 courses of the Business diploma program:

McDonald's Second Assistant Managers must complete the following assessments in support of the diploma program:

  • Business Communication: An MDP pathway communication assessment must be completed. If the assessment is passed, the requirement for a communications course will be fulfilled. If the assessment is not passed, completion of COMM1380 - Professional Writing Skills for Business from Level 2 is required.
  • Math: An MDP pathway math assessment must be completed. If the assessment is passed, the requirement for a math course will be fulfilled. If the assessment is not passed, completion of MATH1020 - Business Mathematics II from Level 2 is required.
  • General Elective: Complete one general elective course (equivalent to 3 credits).

Level 3 and 4

The Business program provides a broad education encompassing all functional areas of business, including business accounting, finance, marketing, sales, operations, and human resources management. These are the level 3 and 4 courses you will take:

Delivery methods

Business courses are offered in full-time and part-time delivery. They are delivered online and in-person at the Kitchener – Doon campus. The time to complete each program depends on the number of courses completed each term.

Pathway options

The Business (0062) (2-year Ontario College Diploma) shares some common level 1 and level 2 courses with the following programs:

This gives eligible McDonald's employees the following pathway options:

  1. Start in the Business Diploma or the Business Administration - Management Advanced Diploma. Upon completion, you will be eligible to pathway to the 3-year Bachelor of Human Resource Management (1624C) Degree or the 4-year Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) - International Business Management (1172C) Degree.
  2. Start in the Business - Finance Diploma or the Business - Insurance Diploma. Upon completion, you will be eligible to pathway to the 4-year Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) - Financial Services (1551C) Degree.

How to apply

If you are interested in turning your MDP into a full college diploma, please follow these steps:

  1. Choose your program:
    1. Business (2-year Ontario College Diploma)
    2. Business - Finance (2-year Ontario College Diploma)
    3. Business - Insurance (2-year Ontario College Diploma)
    4. Business Administration - Management (3-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma)
  2. Submit your application through ontariocolleges.ca. Choose the advanced standing application and select level 3.
  3. A McDonald's Regional Training manager will send your signed McDonald's Canada Training Verification form directly to the Admissions Office at Conestoga.
  4. Forward any post-secondary transcripts you may have to the Admissions Office at Conestoga.

Please note: Applicants must meet minimum admission requirements for the program to which they have applied.

Conestoga reserves the right to validate graduation from secondary school and any other applicable admission requirements of the program(s).
