Program description - September 2025

Massage therapists are important members of the interprofessional health care team, working with a broad range of patients. Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically, the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health, through engagement not only of the musculoskeletal system but also of the neurological and circulatory systems. The Massage Therapy program is geared towards those individuals with an interest in health care and helping people, an aptitude for science and problem solving, and direct hands-on application of skills. This three-year advanced diploma is designed to meet the educational requirements for certification, through examination, as a Registered Massage Therapist by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. This fully-integrated program covers the basic biological sciences such as anatomy and physiology, massage therapy specific knowledge and skills, and clinical reasoning and therapeutic decision making.

Program vision and mission

Vision: To be a leading force in massage therapy education, empowering graduates to elevate the profession through excellence in care, collaboration in healthcare, and meaningful contributions to community well-being. We envision a future where our alumni are recognized for their clinical expertise, ethical integrity, and compassionate presence in every therapeutic encounter.

Mission: To inspire and educate students to become knowledgeable, skilled, and compassionate massage therapists. Through hands-on training, essential practical skills, and a strong ethical foundation, we prepare graduates to excel as integral members of the healthcare team. Committed to professional development, patient care, and lifelong learning, we uphold the highest standards of practice while fostering a deep commitment to improving community health.

Note:

Prior to entering practice, graduates must pass the certification examinations of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.
