Program description - September 2025

Therapeutic Recreation helps individuals achieve optimal health and quality of life through recreation and leisure. If you enjoy working with people and helping them set and achieve personal goals, this program is a great fit for you. Therapeutic Recreation is a Graduate Certificate program where you will learn how to assess strengths, needs and leisure interests of clients to plan, design, and implement interventions that will support an individual's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.

This one-year program includes a combination of classroom, online, and simulation learning plus a culminating field placement experience that transitions students into real work practice. As a graduate of the Therapeutic Recreation Graduate Certificate program, you will be well-positioned to find employment in a variety of settings, such as schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, retirement homes and community agencies.
