Program description

Would you like the opportunity to start a career where you can help build your community? Would you like to work with tools and see the result of your hard work at the end of each day? Now more than ever, women are being encouraged to pursue a career in construction as the need for skilled tradespeople continues to increase. At the beginning of this fully funded program, you will learn the theory and the safe use of tools while developing hands-on skills as you complete various carpentry projects. You will then build on those skills and gain valuable exposure to other construction trades while you complete some simple plumbing and heating/AC installations. Throughout the program, you will learn key employment skills, including how to work safely, problem solve using applied math, communicate, as well as develop effective job search strategies.
