Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours)
Program details
Credential: 4-Year Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours)This unique four-year honours-level program is accredited by the Council of Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and is recognized by the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO).
The program provides professional training in the design development and presentation of interior spaces - including residential, corporate/commercial, retail, institutional, healthcare, hospitality/entertainment and exposition - through project-based learning.
Students study in detail the range of functional and aesthetic components that allow spaces in the built environment to be safely and comfortably inhabited. The relationship of occupants and their physical environment is analyzed through the consideration of ergonomics, illumination, acoustics, finishes, safety, and all aspects of space programming.

Conestoga College facilitates recruitment on an ongoing basis - there are no hard deadlines. Typical time frames for work terms are listed below.
Postings are accepted beginning four months before the start of a term until all students have secured employment provided the minimum 12 consecutive weeks of full-time work is met.

Conestoga College collects data on hourly wages of co-operative education students and offers suggested ranges as a service to employers for the purpose of establishing fair and competitive compensation.
Our experience has been that employers increase wages as skills increase, particularly when employing students for more advanced work terms. The Co-operative Education Office can provide assistance to employers in establishing appropriate wage rates.
Work term capabilities
Specific skills and abilities that students are typically capable of performing during a given work term are listed below.
Work term 1
- Create tactile and digital presentation boards for interior design projects
- Create and render perspective drawings
- Assist with site measurement, assessing existing conditions and compiling an inventory list
- Prepare sketches/drawings for space planning and concept
- Assist with design and construction drawings manually and with AutoCAD and Revit Architecture
- Assist project coordinators with client consultations and project meetings with industry professionals
Work term 2
The following skills are in addition to those listed in work term 1 above:- Assist with preparation of bid documents
- Assist in preparing cost estimates
- Research and select appropriate products and materials for interior design projects
- Assemble product and finish specification information
