For students not able to access the rabies vaccination series due to shortages, we will have a rabies clinic for enrolled students during the first term. Rabies vaccination and titre will continue to be a requirement and must be completed by the end of your first term.

Program description - September 2026
Turn your passion for pets into a career with Conestoga's Pet Grooming certificate.
Love animals and want to build a career around them? Conestoga's one-year Pet Grooming Ontario College Certificate program is the perfect starting point for high school graduates who dream of working with pets every day. This hands-on program teaches you the grooming techniques, animal care skills and business know-how needed to become a professional pet groomer or even start your own grooming business.
You'll learn how to safely handle and groom cats and dogs, perform specialized cuts and maintain animal health and hygiene. A standout feature of the program is the Conestoga Grooming Clinic, where you'll gain real-world experience in a professional setting. Whether you're looking to work in a salon, veterinary clinic or launch your own venture, this program sets you up for success in the growing pet care industry.
What you'll learn
- Safe handling and restraint techniques for cats and dogs
- First aid for groomers
- Grooming methods to enhance pet health and appearance
- Specialized grooming styles and breed-specific cuts
- Basic animal care and hygiene practices
- Business skills for starting and managing a pet grooming service

- This program is delivered in a hybrid format, with schedules varying each term. Some courses may be online, while weekly on-campus attendance is required for in-person courses.
