Conestoga is now accepting applications for this full-time, tuition-free program which begins July 27. Applicants must first attend an information session where they'll learn about eligibility, suitability, the application process and the program curriculum. This program is funded by the Government of Ontario and is restricted to eligible applicants.
Information sessions are held at the Conestoga Skilled Trades Campus (CSTC) on:
- Tuesday, May 5, 5 p.m.
- Wednesday, May 20, 5 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 2, 5 p.m.
- Wednesday, June 17, 5 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 30, 5 p.m.

Program description
Build your future in advanced manufacturing
Kick-start a high-demand career in the skilled trades with Conestoga's Pre-Apprenticeship General Machinist/Tool & Die program—a hands-on, tuition-free pathway for individuals who enjoy working with machines, solving problems, and creating precise, high-quality parts.
Precision machinists are essential in today's manufacturing industries. They use specialized equipment to produce the tools and components used in automotive, aerospace, medical devices, automation and advanced manufacturing. This program provides a strong first step toward a well-paid, in-demand career with long-term opportunities for growth.
Funded by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario, this 27-week pre-apprenticeship prepares learners for apprenticeship and entry-level employment in precision machining. The program includes 19 weeks of in-class, shop-based training, followed by an eight-week paid industry placement that offers real-world experience and opportunities to build employer connections.
The curriculum aligns with General Machinist (Precision Machining) Common Core Level 1 Apprenticeship training, giving you job-ready skills and a strong technical foundation. Learners also receive academic support, employability training, and job-search preparation to support a smooth transition into the workforce or an apprenticeship.

- Read blueprints and technical drawings used in manufacturing
- Apply shop math and precision measurement techniques
- Follow industry safety and quality standards in a machining environment
- Understand materials, tooling, and machining processes used in advanced manufacturing
