When are jobs posted?
We post vacancies on an as-needed basis. Check the website regularly or subscribe to RSS feeds (found on the Employment opportunities page) to receive notifications of new positions. Academic positions tend to be posted to coincide with the academic year, usually between February and May for a fall term hire.
I saw a Conestoga posting on another website. Can I still apply?
We encourage applicants to apply directly on our website. Third-party sites may sometimes post without our knowledge and do not always remove the competition once it is closed. Check our Employment opportunities page to ensure the competition is still open before applying on another site.
There are currently no postings on the website. Can I submit my resumé anyway?
Conestoga does not accept unsolicited resumés. Please apply for open competitions only.
Does Conestoga offer remote working opportunities?
The applicable legislation of the Province of Ontario governs positions at Conestoga. Unless otherwise indicated, successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and be available to work on campus as required. Postings will provide additional information about the workplace location and schedule.
I am applying for a full-time support staff position. What does "starting salary" mean?
Successful candidates new to employment at Conestoga will begin at the pre-determined starting rate for a full-time support staff position as indicated in the job posting. After that, employees shall progress within the payband range in accordance with the increments outlined in the full-time Support Staff Collective Agreement.

Can I submit my cover letter and resumé separately?
No, please submit cover letters and resumés as a single file. Copy and paste your cover letter at the beginning of your resumé and save the combined document as a single file. Acceptable files are .doc, .docx, .pdf, and .zip.
I am having a problem submitting my application. Do you have tips for uploading it?
- If you are a part-time employee, there may be an issue with your password and login. Contact the IT help desk at 519-748-5220, ext. 3444, for assistance.
- Ensure your file is a .doc, .docx, .pdf, or .zip file.
- Avoid special characters in the file name (i.e., hyphens, spaces, commas, numbers, etc.).
- Close the file before you upload it.
- Save the file to your desktop so you can find it easily for uploading.
Who should I address my cover letter to?

What should I include in my application?
- Your application may include a cover letter and resumé, submitted in a single file.
- Your application should include your name, contact information, work experience, educational history, and any other accomplishments, licences, professional designations, awards or skills pertinent to the role.
- As an academic institution, we collect proof of credentials, such as education and training, certification, licences, memberships, etc., as part of our hiring practices. Please ensure to outline all completed credentials and classify them as complete or in progress, and note that copies may be requested in the recruitment process.
Can I make changes to my resumé once submitted?
No, once you have submitted your resumé, you cannot edit it. Please proofread carefully. If you have submitted your resumé and would like to revise it, please email hrrecruitment@conestogac.on.ca with your application, the requisition number and the job title.
Can I drop off my resumé in person or email it?
No, all applications must be submitted online via our Employment opportunities page.
How will I know if my application has been received?
Once you have uploaded your resumé and cover letter, you will see a message confirming it has been received successfully, and you will receive a confirmation email.
Can I apply for more than one job at a time?
- Yes, you can apply to multiple roles that suit your interests and qualifications. You will need to submit your application for each position directly.
- If you are being considered for more than one position at the college, we encourage you to share this with the Talent Acquisition team.
How can I find the status of my application?
Due to the volume of applications received, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
Can I withdraw my application after I have submitted it?
Yes, if you would like to withdraw your application after you have submitted it, please contact hrrecruitment@conestogac.on.ca.
I have submitted my application for a job posting. Will I automatically be considered for other similar jobs?
No, your application will only be considered for roles that you apply to. If you are interested in multiple roles, please apply to those roles directly.
What do you mean by “an internal candidate”?
- Internal candidates for support staff positions are defined by the Support Staff Collective Agreement (Article 17) as bargaining unit employees.
- Internal candidates for academic positions are defined by the Academic Collective Agreement (Article 7.1B) as full-time and current partial-load employees or persons who have been partial-load employees within four months prior to the posting.
Do internal employees get first consideration over external employees?
First consideration for support staff and academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective collective agreements. Candidates considered internal will receive first consideration for full-time support staff, regular part-time support staff and full-time professor positions.
Can I apply for a job if I reside internationally?
Conestoga employees will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus, as required. Employees must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Credentials
Will I need to submit proof of credentials?
As an academic institution, we collect proof of credentials, such as education and training, certification, licences, memberships, etc., as part of our hiring practices. Please ensure to outline all completed credentials and classify them as complete or in progress. Copies may be requested during the recruitment process.
I have international credentials. Is an evaluation required?
If your credentials were obtained at an institution outside of Canada, you are required to submit an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from one of the following designated credential assessment organizations: World Education Services (WES) or International Credential Assessment Service of Canada (ICAS). Your credential assessment must meet the minimum Canadian equivalency required for the position.
I do not meet the minimum qualifications listed on the job posting. Am I able to apply?
Yes, all are welcome to apply. Support staff and full-time professor positions require that you meet the minimum qualifications for the role.
What qualifications do I need to become a part-time or full-time professor?
Qualifications may vary for professor positions depending on the program requirements. Many positions indicate that at minimum, a diploma or degree in a relevant field of study is required. Others may specify that a master’s degree or PhD is a requirement for the role.
Interviews
When will I know if I have been selected for an interview?
Recruitment timelines vary; there is no standard time for notification. Due to the volume of applications received, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
I have been invited to an interview. What can I expect?
The interview process and panel will vary depending on the position. The interview panel may include the Hiring Manager, a Human Resources representative, an individual outside of the hiring department, and a subject matter expert. Candidates may be asked to submit a video recording and/or interview virtually via Zoom/Microsoft Teams or in person.
Interview questions are determined in advance, and all applicants are asked the same questions. This format allows us to evaluate all candidates fairly. Interviews are structured, and candidates can expect to answer behavioural and scenario-based questions. You may be asked to submit required documentation, complete an assessment, and/or prepare a brief presentation or teaching simulation.
How can I find out the results of my interview?
All candidates who complete an interview will receive an update on their status once a decision has been made.
At what point in the process will my references be contacted?
References are typically requested after the interview stage. Candidates will be asked to provide email addresses and phone numbers for three business references.

If I am an employee at Conestoga, am I able to enroll in Conestoga courses at a reduced rate?
Yes, as an academic institution, education is important to us. All full-time and part-time employees at Conestoga can apply to enroll in Continuing Education Conestoga courses for only $20, plus applicable taxes and any additional fees (some conditions apply).
I am required to have a professional designation for my role. Does Conestoga cover professional membership dues?
Yes, eligible full-time and regular part-time support staff positions that require a professional designation for their employment conditions may be reimbursed for their membership fees to maintain a certification/licence required to perform their duties.
Will I be reimbursed for my home office equipment if I am hired to work in a hybrid role at Conestoga?
Eligible full-time employees and regular part-time support staff employees may be reimbursed for a one-time home office allowance for eligible equipment up to $300.
