Program description - May 2026

Sustainable urban design is the practice of designing cities, towns, and communities in a way that minimizes the impact on the environment and maximizes the social, economic, and cultural benefits for current and future residents. It involves considering the long-term sustainability of a community's physical, economic, and social systems, as well as its environmental impacts in order to create a healthy, livable, and thriving place for all members of the community. Upon graduation of this one-year Ontario College Graduate Certificate, you will be prepared to enter roles in urban planning, urban design, transportation design, or land-use planning in a variety of organizations including government agencies, planning firms, engineering firms, architecture firms, and non-profit organizations.

Financial assistance

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is a needs-based program designed to help Ontario students cover the cost of post-secondary education. Funded by the federal and provincial governments, OSAP is intended to promote equality of opportunity for post-secondary studies through direct financial assistance for educational costs and living expenses. These interest-free loans are intended to supplement your financial resources and those of your family. The majority of students apply for loan assistance via the OSAP website. Students can also print the application booklet through the OSAP website. For more information, please visit OSAP & aid.
